To raise the trainee's knowledge of the duties of a load slinger. To be able to, sling loads in a safe and correct manner

Learning Objectives

Task 1
Carry out site safety checks.

Task 2 - Carry out load safety checks
Weight. Size. Location. Lifting Points. Heavy ended. Any loose items or moving parts.

Task 3 - Liaise with Crane driver to assess the lifting operations
Agreed Signal Code. Inform Crane driver of safe working load

Task 4
Direct Crane driver correctly

End of shift
Hook Raised & Secured. No Load on Hook. Crane left safe & secure.

Constraints 4 Trainees per course + Crane driver required to move loads Classroom for the course Work shop for the practical work with crane available Crane test certificate available Rope / Chain test certificate available Personal Protective equipment
