HANDLING Purpose
of Course:
To raise the trainee’s knowledge of Manual Handling regulations and be able to
estimate lifts to maintain his/her safety Designed

Objectives To enable the employee to understand the risks associated
with manual handling operations. To provide an understanding of the kinetic
principles of safe lifting, carrying and how these apply to the work undertaken.
To enable the employee to understand how and when to use equipment provided
to eliminate or reduce risk from manual handling operations. To ensure that
the employee is aware of the requirement to report any physical condition which
puts him or her at greater risk from manual handling operations. To ensure
that the manager has sufficient understanding to comply with statutory requirements
and common law Implement company policy and procedures. Design working
practices and environments in accordance with good ergonomic principles effectively
deal with Health and safety and organisational problems associated with handling
activities that may arise at the workplace. References

direct reference to manual handling under this general requirement, the duty does
include the provision of training where hazardous manual handling operations are

associated with manual handling tasks An explanation of the structure of
the body and how injuries can occur, including cumulative and acute injury
